Before joining the international Girl Scouts Camp in the Swiss Alps, the group from Long Island wanted to visit different historical sights in central Europe.

55 years later, Travelwell located her relatives in Mecklenburg-W-Pomerania, so she could visit her birthplace and meet her family.

Rowing club attending the Vogalonga in Venice / Italy

Vogalonga is a non-competitive rowing "competition". During the 30 kilometers / 18.6 miles of racecourse, the participants travel along various Venetian canals and historical buildings. The numbers of boats, from all over the world, has swelled up to 1'627 in 2009.

Steve Ballmer – who grew up near Detroit (MI / US) – has got his family roots in Switzerland. The group of 16 explored the sites where parents and grandparents lived before they emigrated to the USA.

Students of a cooking college

A group of 15 students from a cooking college in South Carolina traveled 3 weeks through Europe, to train with different counterparts. A very unique experience for the future chefs.

Mennonite come to their roots

In the evening of January, 21st.1525, after a long dispute with the reformer Ulrich Zwingli and the town government of Zurich (Switzerland), Felix Manz, Konrad Grebel and their friends founded the Anabaptist community. Today, Mennonites from all over the world travel to Zurich to see the sight where the Anabaptist movement has started.

As a kid, Michael always heard his grandparents telling adorable stories about the Swiss mountains. 65 years later, after having sold his business, he fulfilled his wish to see the Alps. With his wife, he explored Switzerland for over a week and visited a lot of points of special interests all over the country.

After selling his IT-business, Karl and his wife decided, that it was time to show their 2 teenage-childern (as long they would travel with their parents) , that there are other cultures than the US-North American way of living. On their 6 week trip through Europe the family visited Switzerland, France and England. Staying 3 days on a typical Swiss farm, getting up by the rooster's crow was as much an unique impression for all 4 of them as staying in an old castle (5***** Hotel) in France.

Going East

After the opening of the “ Iron Curtain”, lots of families from North America became interested in their parentage. Travelwell Local Managers, our fluent English speaking drivers and guides all over the countries of the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the Eastern European states, have been helping to plan hundreds of trips back to the roots.
