| It was back in 1525, in the town of Zurich, when Felix Manz, Konrad Grebel and their friends founded the Anabaptis community. After long discussions with the town goverment and Ulrich Zwingli - the pastor and religious reformer working at the "Grossmünster" church - the groupe decided that there future live should be eaven moore dedicatet to god then what Zwingli was planing for the town of Zurich. The town goverment under the impact of the very strong charakter of Zwingli, was not accepting this decision and started imidiatly to fight the new movment. Some members of the new religious groupe got prosecute - others where able to escape. First - they could hide in Zollikon - a village just outside Zurich. Soon, the town goverment did start to trace the families also out side the city walls - so the hade to flee on. The "Täuferhöhle" - cave - near Bäretswil was a palce the coud hide secretly for a shourt time - before leaving the state of Zurich. Most of them went to settel in the Emmental - some of them went into the hights of the Jura. |
